The Lions 2014 NFL Draft Pick Eric Ebron: A Closer Look.

The Detroit Lions General Manger Martin Mayhew created a major splash in this years draft by selecting Eric Ebron. Although as fans we have mixed feelings, due to the fact we have major problems in our secondary. This is a good addition, and I will tell you why. Eric Ebron has pulled comparisons to great NFL tight ends, with names such as Jimmy Graham or Vernon Davis coming to mind. In the combine Ebron ran a 4.56 40 yd dash, in which is blazing fast for a tight end.

In Detroit’s new offense, under Joe Lombardi, he will play a similar role that Jimmy Graham did in the New Orleans Saints’ offense. With Eric Ebron’s unique skill set the Lions drafted more than just a tight end, Ebron can line up opposite of megatron or hang in the slot as a receiver. Eric Ebron is a very versatile addition to the Lions offense. One way to make Stafford better is surround him with as many weapons as possible. Though the Detroit Lions had other dire needs on the defensive end of the team, they will address that in the remaining rounds. One thing to remember don’t get to mad Lion’s Nation, the Seattle Seahawks’ defense was majority 3rd round or lower picks. #OnePride
