Lions with emphatic opening day win

A dominant display saw the Detroit Lions see off the New York Giants at home by a score of 35-14.

Touchdowns by Calvin Johnson (two), Joique Bell and Matthew Stafford thrilled the home crowd. The offense combined for an impressive 417 yards of offense and zero turnovers. Matthew Stafford finished 22 of 32 for 346 yards with two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

The Lions’ D held the Giants to just 147 yards and picked them off twice. Eli Manning was consistently hurried and pressured all night.
